Volunteers are the heart of Ronald McDonald House Sydney; they make what we do possible. Whether they’re providing a helping hand at our Randwick House, lending an ear to a parent in our Family Rooms, or manning stalls at our community events – we couldn’t achieve what we do without the invaluable help and contribution of our volunteers.
Volunteers come from all walks of life, all united by a shared passion for making a difference. Whether you’re an energetic go-getter, working full time or part time, studying at university or TAFE or someone with a bit more time on your hands, we have a place for you in our ‘Volunteer Family’!
For most of our roles, you don’t need any special skills, just a compassionate heart and the ability to commit to regular shifts. We have the following volunteer roles available:
Family Room Volunteers welcome families into the Family Room space located within Sydney Children’s Hospital and Wollongong Hospital. They offer all the complimentary services and amenities available in the room and maintain a safe, clean and inviting environment for our families.
Homemaker Volunteers support the Home located in Randwick where families stay whilst their child is receiving treatment at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. They reset the home each day to ensure it is a clean, welcoming, and warm space for all our families.
Dream Team Volunteers support the Home located in Randwick where families stay whilst their child is receiving treatment at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. This role is an overnight role supported by on-call staff, with the volunteer being the main point of contact to respond to emergencies, late family check in’s or urgent enquiries.
Community & Event Volunteers work with our team in the community, at our fundraising events, community events and/or supporting behind the scenes in the lead up to the events.
Commitment:
You can choose an option that works best for you – volunteer weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or just for specific events. For our Family Room, Homemaker and Dream Team Volunteer roles, we ask that you commit to one 3 Hour shift a month on a regular basis.
